NDF 20 Years After Katrina
Neighborhood Development Foundation

Still Here. Still Serving. Still Home.

Dear Friend,

It’s been 20 years since Hurricane Katrina changed New Orleans forever. But even before the storm, Neighborhood Development Foundation (NDF) was already doing the work—serving New Orleans since 1986.

In the decades since, we’ve helped thousands of families become homeowners, avoid foreclosure, and rebuild after disaster. We’ve weathered:

  • Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Rita
  • The 2008 mortgage crisis
  • The BP Gulf Oil Spill
  • Hurricanes Isaac and Ida
  • The COVID-19 pandemic
  • The 2022 New Orleans East tornado

But we’ve never done this work alone.

Every step of the way—through storms, economic collapse, and uncertainty—we’ve been able to show up for families because you showed up for us.

If you’ve donated, volunteered, partnered, or advocated for our mission: thank you. You’ve been part of this journey. Together, we’ve helped keep New Orleans families housed and hopeful.

The need today is just as urgent. Housing is more unaffordable than ever. Recovery takes longer. Families are still one storm—or one paycheck—away from crisis.

We’re asking for your support once again.

Your gift today allows us to continue this vital work: counseling families, preparing first-time homebuyers, helping communities recover after disaster, and making sure that New Orleans remains a place where everyone has the chance to build a home—and a future.

We’ve been here since 1986—because of supporters like you.
We’re still here 20 years after Katrina—because of our community.
And with your continued support, we’ll be here for the next 20.

With gratitude,

Fred J. Johnson, Jr.
